Robbie Fox Does New York Comic Con 2017
I went to my first ever New York Comic Con this year, and had an absolute blast mixing it up with my fellow nerds. So much fun that by the end of it, I legitimately didn’t know if we had any footage to use in this video, because I felt like 90% of my day was spent marveling (even though I’m a DC guy) at all of the cool shit.
Day 2 was awesome as well when I went with Trent (no cameras were present), because he was thrown right into the fire, not knowing what to expect. I’ve been to plenty of local, regional Comic Cons, and have watched coverage of SDCC/NYCC for years, so I pretty much knew exactly what we were getting into, but that corn fed boy from Iowa, man was he shocked. He actually got us kicked out of a panel that we snuck in to for yelling “OH MY GOD, THAT’S JOHN KRASINSKI!” as John Krasinski’s applause was dying down. I didn’t help when I responded, “WHAT?! NO WAY! WHERE?!”, but I’m blaming this one mostly on Big Daddy Trent.
Oh, and one more thing. There may not be a more friendly and loving community than the geek community, and I say that with no exaggeration. I didn’t buy a ticket to “An Evening With Mark Hamill” because I was told my press badge would get me in the building. When I arrived at the Hammerstein Ballroom, I was informed the press badge did NOT allow you access to the sold out show, and before I could even be upset, an awesome girl named Jacquelyn (dressed in a FIRE Gamora outfit) came up to me and gave me a spare ticket, free of charge. Didn’t want money, didn’t want thanks, just wanted me to enjoy the show, and that I did.
Mark Hamill rambled on with two hours with no prepared material and the time flew by as he made the crowd laugh, cry, and everything in between. He’s the best. I love Comic Con.
